Discovery Mountain Lodge offers a reasonably priced stay in Estes Park, praised for cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and convenient location. While many guests appreciate the views and friendly staff, some concerns have been raised regarding safety features, breakfast quality, and potential noise issues.
Clean and comfortable rooms. Close to everything. Great views from the windows or balcony. Friend staff. Refrigerator works great (very cold) and hot water on demand. . Very satisfied.
An excellent value hotel. Spacious rooms with incredibly comfortable beds and four sumptuous pillows. The deer and geese on site are fun to watch and there's also a hot tub. Cons: the coffee is horrible, but hey it's a free breakfast. Also we had trouble locking the slider on our room. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. An easy fix would be a dowel you could insert from inside for maximum security. Otherwise, great stay!
I came to CO for my brother’s wedding. The guy who checked me in was very informative and nice. The rooms were clean! Even the microwave was immaculate. I stayed 4 nights without any issues. I couldn’t figure out the coffee maker in my room. More than likely user error. I just bought some iced coffee to keep in the fridge no big deal. I didn’t take advantage of their breakfast. I met family in town. Everything is less than a 10 minute drive. Starbucks is a 8 minute walk. My only complaint would be the driveway. I was waiting for a wheel from my suitcase to roll off. lol Bit in their defense. They seemed to be doing some upgrades on the property. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this plays. I’m a solo female traveler. I felt comfortable and safe staying here. The few people I met in passing were friendly! You can’t beat the views walking out of your room.
Great place for a cheap alternative. Was visiting for spring break for two nights in Estes. It was definitely worth the money. The rooms were very clean and was more up to date than we expected after seeing the outside. The doors were sliding glass doors which was a little odd, but nonetheless not an issue with the double locks. The breakfast in the morning was light but enough to get going. The gentleman at the desk was extremely friendly so props to him. Though we tried to check out right at 7, but staff didn’t arrive till 7:15. We weren’t upset because it is early, but a little pain. Location right in town for the most part and worth it! Would likely stay again.
We watched a concert at the Stanley and didn't want to pay their high rates, so this lodge was within walking distance and very reasonably priced. We were more than pleasantly surprised with how nice our room was. We got a newly refurbished room including the bathroom and woke up to a beautiful view of a little pond on the property. To top it off, the staff was overly nice and the whole stay was just perfect. Thanks!
I recently stayed at the Discovery Lodge for 1 night after attending a concert at the Stanley. Check in was smooth, and the guy who helped me was very friendly. I stayed in a lower level room in a building further away from the main office. The room itself was nice- it appeared to have mostly new furnishings. It was clean, large, and the beds were more comfortable than most hotels I've stayed at. The shower was clean and the water was hot. The hotel grounds were cute, with a little pond (frozen over in the winter) and plenty of parking. I had one very alarming issue during my stay. In the middle of the night we were woken up by screaming and banging coming from the room next to us. It was honestly very scary, and we had no idea what was going on. We called the police because we were very concerned for the safety of the person in that room (and our own), but by the time they came out it had gone quiet. There is no staff that stays on the property, so they weren't even aware of the issue. And as a note, there were only sliding glass doors in this building on the lower level rooms, and they only have a latch lock which doesn't feel safe enough, especially in that situation. Please consider adding some kind of dead bolt, or the bars that fold down on the sliding doors. The only other complaint is that the breakfast ran out of items early before we arrived (around 8:30-9am), so be sure to go early for the full selection.
Ugh….its a motel. You get what you pay for I guess. Avoid room 101!!! We stayed to see a show nearby in the winter months and instead of putting us in a decent room, we were given room 101 (directly under the hotel check-in/breakfast room). Not sure why. Plenty of other vacant rooms. Fine for a night but never again.
Had to redo my review, my first review was to avoid room 101 because it’s right under the lobby where everyone has breakfast in the morning lol, well after talking to the manager we were successfully moved and upgraded with no extra charge. Sometimes we jump the gun without seeing what our options are first and I was guilty of that today. Very nice place and friendly staff, just be aware of room 101 in the mornings is all lol
The TV was not hooked up and when WE hooked it up only one channel came in. Our reserved parking place was taken but outside the room the parking places weren’t marked, just IN the rooms. No beverages except coffee included in continental breakfast. The views are fabulous and it’s close enough to all that is going on in Estes.
Stayed here in July and overall it's a nice place. Room was nice and very clean. Most inexpensive place I could find in Estes Park and they are dog friendly. However, it's not the best place to stay with a dog because what little grass they have, there's a lot of Elk and goose poop. And there was a dog running loose a couple times around the main office which I was told that's the owners dog. Made me nervous because my dog is not friendly with other dogs who approach him while he's on leash. The breakfast was very minimal, small boxes of cereal and muffins and they never had lids for the coffee cups the 3 days we were there. Close to downtown.
