This historic downtown hotel offers excellent service and a prime location but is closing in April 2026. Guests praise the responsive staff and comfortable rooms, yet frequently cite dated facilities and inconsistent temperature control as drawbacks.
The staff are great-very friendly and helpful. The bathroom light was broken and maintenance fixed it before we got back to the room. The room was comfortable but nothing special. You can tell the rooms were renovated a few years ago. There is a mix of old and new. I call the restaurant the Cafe Disappointment. The menu lists two salads and three sandwiches. They do not like to turn on the heat. The thermostat I saw was set to either 65 or 68. It was really cold, especially in the conference rooms. In the end, none of this matters. The hotel was sold to a local college and will close soon.
I was on a business trip and booked this place almost a month ago. This place is laid back and very old, really had a hard time with showers inside and lighting. I would definitely not recommend it at all rather get another hotel that’s is much newer, neat and clean. Rough place to stay and the room we had was even chosen by the agent at the check-in.
This place is like stepping back in time to when brown was everything and before the invention of double glaze windows to block street sounds. But it’s cool in its way: the rooms are perfect replicas of 1970’s hotel chic but with a flat panel TV. The 2000 lumen lights might be harsh for some but no detail escapes notice in this light. The hotel is also very sensible because housekeeping is on-demand only and who knew that such small water bottles were a thing. The towels will save me a dermabrasion routine so that was nice of them to help me exfoliate. The service people are Utah nice, which is a nice complement to the rustic charm.
This may be listed as a 4 star hotel but it is certainly a 5 Star hotel to me. Exceptional staff. Terrific amenities. Great location. Perfect rooms. Excellent restaurant. The housekeeping staff are stupendous and far exceeded my expectations. I am grateful for their hard work and dedication to service. Devin, the Front Desk Manager, is the very definition of a consummate hospitality professional. He did so much to make my stay here exceptional that I will certainly never forget him. Allow him to provide you with the best stay in SLC that anyone could ask for, like he did for me. Alelie is the most dedicated, polite, and eager to please hospitality professional I have ever encountered. If you need anything, she will help you with it. She will remember your name and make your stay here even more special. Javier is, I have to say, just the chillest and most friendly guy ever. Haha. He is so awesome! I hope he continues on to have a great career with Marriott International. Edgardo in the restaurant is simply fantastic. Allow him to make your day! This hotel truly exemplifies all of the finer points of service, hospitality, and customer care. I know that this property is making the Marriott family and Marriott International very proud. I feel so privileged to have been able to stay here and I look forward to coming back, hopefully sooner rather than later! Five Stars! It is a great shame that this property will be permanently closing in April 2026. Perhaps one might say, as goes Sundance, so goes the Sheraton. As goes Jake Retzlaff, so goes the Sheraton! I had an amazing lunch at the Sheraton Downtown. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the service truly made the experience memorable. My server, Grace, was absolutely wonderful—friendly, attentive, and made sure I was well taken care of the entire time. She really went above and beyond, and it made my visit feel special. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for my birthday. It was a very nice hotel, with a gift shop, restaurant, spa, nail salon and a hair salon. The entire staff was very kind. The room was much smaller than expected but overall pretty nice. We stayed for two nights, our first morning room service came while we were at breakfast, it’s always suck a treat to come back to fresh towels and a made bed. The morning of checkout they came knocking about 3 times before our checkout time, still very kind though.
Some rooms are newer than others, but overall it's very nice rooms. The staff is wonderful. The location is very good. Easy to get to downtown, easy to get to the airport. The restaurant hours are odd.
First time staying at a 4 star hotel and it didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed the grand lobby layout and the friendly reception of the staff. The hotel room was updated and comfortable. However the climate control not working at all. The room was very hot and the AC was not working. Breakfast was amazing it was buffet style with bacon, sausage, (real) eggs, waffles, and oatmeal for the hot food options. Cold food consisted of fresh berries, melons, apples, oranges, bananas, yogurt, breads, and multiple options of cold cereal. I would stay at this hotel again.
I'll start off by saying I'm an Ambassador at the Marriott & have grown to expect a certain level of service and quality. I didn't feel those at this hotel. I was met by a trainee at the desk so wasn't thanked or even recognized for my loyalty. I stayed two nights and was offered a double bed room and said they could not upgrade me. They finally found me a king room with a sofa but again, no recognition of loyalty, no water, not even offered water in the room or welcome gift. The hotel is definitely dated and needs a refresh. The fitness center was very minimal for a Sheraton. The gift shop will not use room charge as apparently they are not connected to the hotel though in the lobby so those that do your expenses understand why this is not convenient. The concierge lounge breakfast was meager at best so we decided to go down to the restaurant. The waiter sat us but then never came back unless we called him over. Took our order but didn't bring coffee until we had to ask him to please bring it. There was only one other couple in the restaurant so we couldn't figure out why he wouldn't come do his job until asked. The next morning the waitress was fast & I didn't have to ask for anything so she definitely redeemed the hotel restaurant. Overall this hotel lacks the polishing it desperately needs. I will be staying somewhere else next time I'm in SLC for business.
Hotel was fine. Prices in the whole area were up due to conference, so I’ll leave price out of it. Hotel was clean, kinda felt dated and in need of a refresh, but that seems like the Sheraton brand in general right now. I was on third floor facing a brick wall, which was a bit underwhelming. Club lounge was fine, breakfast was good and there were always snacks and drinks available. Service was good as was front desk. Room beside the brick wall was good and needs comfy. I’d go back, but also be excited to try something different.
