Dao House offers a serene and rustic retreat with stunning mountain views and a focus on disconnecting from modern technology. Recent reviews highlight the property’s peaceful atmosphere, clean rooms, and exceptional staff, particularly during events like the Colorado Association of Naturopathic Doctors conference. However, some guests have experienced connectivity issues and a lack of amenities like televisions and reliable Wi-Fi.
I didn't spend time in the hotel but enjoyed the area, and probably just confused them but enjoyed the atmosphere. I'm to out of shape to be a leader, but if you know about daoism sometimes you have to let go of things that hold you back such as video games even though im not completely against them, my time is to valuable to waste and according to Moores law and my need to work hard they hold me to far back as it is the simple things, and why I keep things like basic microntrollers to study simple concepts vs my mind going everywhere from over complexity. My Daoist beliefs actually stem from Albert Einstein as E=MC^2 where mass=energy and his statements of simplicity to keep things as simple as possible but no simpler. They also share views of LVT in some ways which is actually in the Bible as the land is gods or in Taoist beliefs the tao but who is to say the tao is not a god? and I think many Christians get confused by that statement as the tao is unknown yet they still worship and respect the earth as if it were gods.
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a scenic, quiet location. Our room was spotless and so comfortable. I wish I could have enjoyed it longer, I got up at 1:30am to go attempt a Longs Peak summit (unsuccessful), but my son was super cozy in the room until check out time and then he was allowed to relax in the gorgeous and spacious lobby area until I got back after my hike. Somehow we managed to leave with the room key (yes, a real key!) but no one made a big deal out of it and I brought it back a few weeks later when I made my second (successful) summit attempt.
This year the Colorado Association of Naturopathic Doctors held it's annual conference at the Dao House. I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. The environment was perfect for our community to come together on a deeper level. Some people may find the lack of TV's in the room or limited WIFI frustrating... but this is in alignment with the vision of the Dao House. It is the perfect space to unplug, connect with nature and remember that life is about being in the present moment. This is the perfect place to rekindle your capacity to be mindful and aware in your life again. The staff is excellent and the Tai Chi / Qi Gong classes added to the overall experience.
Amazing for our wedding!!! We used Danna Frost for our photographer. She knew how to find things and make the beautiful setting even better. The site was perfect. I have never slept so well. The beds were cozy and the mountain air crisp and fresh!
Dao House is a bit rustic and quirky but so incredibly clean, comfortable and the location/views are unmatched. Staff was helpful and kind and went above and beyond for us in every way. Thoughtful touches throughout and just enough service to connect to the world when needed but plenty of opportunity to unplug as well. Highly recommend for a no frills, comfortable and quaint hotel.
WARNING READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING. Horrible experience from check-in to check-out. The property looks abandoned. There is no TV, and the wi-fi is extremely limited, barely usable. No refrigerators.. they say two shared available, but the shared refrigerator was extremely small (smaller than a dorm frig) and jammed with other guests stuff. Breakfast was a joke, pre-sliced bananas and halfed muffins. The walls are extremely thin. Three guys stayed in the room next to us. They weren't loud or obnoxious or anything, but we heard their conversation as if they were in the room. I had to play white noise to go to sleep but that kept pausing because the internet was so bad. This was not a stay for comfort and relaxation, It was quite the opposite. The entire place gave cult like vibes, making for a very uncomfortable stay!
If you want a no-frills disconnect from the modern world, Dao house is your place. Quiet, peaceful, no cell service, no TV, no AC. Really peaceful and lovely, time for each other face to face. Gorgeous location and views!! If you like coffee in the morning, you probably should bring it with you. Hot water is always available, but the coffee- that to my knowledge was supposed to be made by the leisurely hour of 7am- never appeared. The mini pot for "early risers" was empty the first morning (never set up) and its product the second morning tasted distinctly of the Asian Grocery scent emanating from the kitchen. Don't let this deter you from staying here. It's a very peaceful place with opportunity to spend real time with your family, board games and books and hiking abound.
