My wife and I liked this place and it was the 1st time we’ve stayed here. We checked in at our scheduled time of 4 pm and our room wasn’t ready until 5:30. If you’re going to charge me a $35 resort fee, my room better be ready on time. We were given the option to pay $50 and $25 more if we wanted an earlier check-in. Seems fishy I could pay and get it earlier but when I don’t, we had to wait?. Just extremely disappointed that we had to wait for our room for so long and change our reservations at the restaurant.

I really enjoyed my time here. It's an upscale hotel/ casino but not stuffy. Loved the views from our room and the ease of navigating the grounds. Games are great! There was a good range of limits and I had a couple good streaks going on the $25 limit baccarat and $15 limit blackjack. Everyone working was very, very nice. What impressed me the most was actually the buffet. It's certainly expensive at $54 a person but it was shockingly good. I ate a lot of New York strip steak... we will definitely be back

I recently visited Monarch and had mixed feelings about the experience. The place itself is nice, but it was way too packed to actually enjoy anything. It felt overcrowded almost everywhere we went, which made it hard to relax or unwind. The buffet especially wasn’t worth the money. There wasn’t anything particularly impressive about the selection, and unfortunately, I ended up feeling sick afterward, which really put a damper on the whole trip. If you’re looking for a calm, relaxing vacation, this probably isn’t the best choice. It felt more stressful than enjoyable. There are some good aspects, but overall, it just didn’t live up to expectations for the price.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was wonderful! Our room was everything we wanted, plus our amenities were exactly what we wanted. I love that we had two showers plus a giant bath (sorry for any bath bomb remnants!) and the bed was pretty comfy. The customized welcome sign on the TVs was a nice touch! A few things I did notice: - our room fridge never went below 50 degrees so we ended up throwing away our food because I couldn’t trust it - being ID’d after coming off an escalator was annoying, especially because my husband wasn’t (the woman commented that only people who LOOK under 40 get ID’d, but there’s people with genetic stuff that gives them white hair young) - the lack of room service was a little disheartening truthfully, but understandable in a place this size. The spa was fabulous and everything I wanted. I did like that we got 4 hours of spa amenities in addition to our services. The provided water was tasty. The salt room with the light therapy had to be my favorite.

We have been loyal customers of Monarch, even before their renovations and it is really disappointing. I get that some days are very busy, especially holidays but at least be honest about the expected wait times for the buffet. Yes, you'll prioritize hotel and VIP guests but don't tell people it will be a two-hour wait, and then it turns the wait is more than double, almost triple the time...

Service is what you can expect on a busy weekend, lots of people and you have to wait patiently the location is great, but I left five stars for the room. Make sure to get the executive suite with the MTI bathtub, Before I got in the tub, I noticed that the Jets were so strong. They came all the way to the top of the water. Got in the tub alone while my boyfriend was gambling. And I can say is Ooohhh ? and if the jets were not amazing on their own the big screen tv over the tub was perfect for my adult movie experience. If I could leave 10 stars for the room, I would.

Update: In response to the hotel’s very untrue response below, I’d like to clarify a couple of things. 1) We were never contacted at any point about the reservation being updated to today. The hotel is totally lying which is even more shocking than our initial complaint. The last contact we had with the hotel we were told that there was nothing they could do and essentially “too bad,” after being given the runaround all morning. 2) As the hotel is well aware, the third party reached out to them multiple times only to be told that the hotel wouldn’t budge and being given an array of different excuses and information. This hotel and their staff clearly think that they can get away with scamming their customers, as is apparent in the dozens of other reviews with similar complaints. Definitely do not waste your money here! ________ We unfortunately have to strongly discourage anyone from staying at this hotel as the staff are highly unprofessional and unhelpful. There was a big snowstorm in Colorado last night and the roads were not safe for us to drive to Black Hawk. We called the hotel to ask if we could re-book for the next day and spoke with Hope, who told us that it would not be a problem at all but that unfortunately there was no one there to process the reservation change that evening so we would need to have the third-party we booked through reach out to them by email and that the change would be processed in the morning when the manager was in. Chase reached out to them shortly after and talked to the same person by phone who told them that they needed to e-mail the reservations department and that it would be processed first thing in the morning. This email was sent with proof that same evening. Well, this morning we’ve been given the total runaround by not only Hope, who even admitted talking to us last night, but my multiple other staff giving us numerous different excuses about why they are refusing to change our reservation. Hope apparently marked it as a no-show despite the fact that she was the one who told us it would be no problem to change the reservation. The third party has also reached out to them multiple times to no avail. Really terrible customer service. Stay at one of the many other, nicer hotels in Black Hawk and avoid this place!

Had a great time overall at this casino. The atmosphere was fun and everything was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a good variety of games to choose from. The food options were better than expected and made the visit even more enjoyable. One small downside was that they were a bit strict about kids being near the restaurant area. It’s understandable given the environment, but it could’ve been handled a little more kindly. Still, a solid experience overall and I’d definitely come back.

My husband and I love this hotel so much! We love how modern this hotel is compared to others in the area and appreciate that machines actually pay out here. If I could make a suggestion to improve the hotel, it would be the pool area. An indoor pool is such a huge plus most places don’t have, in addition to a roof top hot tub, but the atmosphere is feels very cold. Might I suggest during the evening time dimming the can pool lights to a more relaxing color like blue to modernize the space instead of it feeling like a Holiday Inn vibe. The area is so beautiful, but the lighting is so harsh to relax in. Especially in the evening time. Blue lights where the beautiful arches are instead of cold corporate lighting would warm up the place so much! I would also say the same for the hot tub lighting at night. It’s the harshest brightest spotlight in the world and adds no relaxation feel to the area at all? Also, I know a lot of older folks visit this resort, but can we also change up the music to spa music more up to date music than the greatest hits of the 90s??? I would change the lighting, music update the pool decor. More greenery and updated pool beds. I stay at hotel pools often and a huge part of my liking to a place is their atmosphere. Just wanted to provide some helpful improvements from a guest POV! Still very much love this hotel!

Best place to stay in town. Absolutely beautiful. All the restaurants had excellent quality of food. The machines were good about giving back or at least stretching out the time of your spendings but also do hit really well. Customer service was great. The casino was very clean and beautiful with many amenities to choose from. The rewards program is one of the better ones I have seen.
