City Inn receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its affordability and convenient location. However, significant concerns regarding cleanliness, security, and customer service have been raised repeatedly. Recent stays have highlighted issues with unsanitary conditions and unresponsive staff.
The staff were very kind properly is very clean and quiet. I have stayed there a few times in this past year and never had a problem. The price is great. I truly recommend this location for short term are long term. Thank you to all the staff at City Inn
Booked for 2 nights, only stayed a few hours. Room was dirty, smelled foul (the bedding especially), and don’t want to know what was on the chairs and what the white substance under the bed was. Door only had 1 simple lock which was on the handle, no secondary lock/deadbolt/chain, and could be unlocked by anyone who has a master key. Advertised as non smoking, our room was very smoky and the bathroom window was left open seemingly to air it out. Woke up with swelling and breathing difficulty due to an allergic reaction to the cigarette smoke which was disregarded entirely. Spoke with front desk employees over the phone and someone over text several times, asked to speak with manager time and time again and was refused, ghosted over text, and was refused a refund. Do not recommend.
I get a room through Priceline every so often ,usually I go to the America's Best value inn out of Peoria way. Will this room came up and it was about the same price so I went and got a room. The lady at the front desk was very helpful. And then when I went to the room I couldn't believe it. This room was clean and modern. I mean this was a really great room for the price. I'm telling you if you're on a budget, or you don't want to spend a lot of money. Please consider staying here. I'm telling you the rooms are very nice.
The front desk lady was very kind, but the room was very unsettling. When we first walked in, there was unflushed pee in the toilet. That I could have let go, but maybe an hour later my husband found redish brown stains on our pillows. At first we thought that it was maybe just stained but it had been washed. The next morning we found the same reddish brown stains on the window curtains, shower curtains, and carpet. That makes me think 1. If what was on the pillow was the same thing that was around the whole room, then the pillow cases were not washed, nor changed. But purposefully set so we wouldnt see it. And 2. I genuinely think it was blood. Hopefully from a nosebleed and not something serious, but still very unsanitary.
Had a complication in my living situation so had to resort to staying at local hotels/motels and I absolutely had to give kudos to City Inn during a particularly difficult time of my life. I think a lot of the negative reviews posted are from cheapskate patrons expecting something unrealistic for what they’re actually paying for. It’s the most affordable stay I’ve been able to find on any given day of the week and satisfies all the basic requirements I needed. Stayed in a few rooms here and each one was clean, comfortable, and had the basic amenities expected from any hotel/motel (heater/ac, WiFi, mini-fridge, microwave, working shower & toilet, soap/shampoo/conditioner). It’s in a great location, close by to major highways, and all the staff are always friendly. Special appreciation to both Anu and Christina who remember me from previous visits and take the time to make my stays more enjoyable, whether it be doing their best to provide a room away from the noisy street or just reprogramming my Directv.
You can’t beat the location. The front desk staff were very polite and professional. The cleaning staff did not speak English. The rooms were clean when we arrived and we cleaned them ourselves. The views were pretty spectacular for a little kick chick from Wisconsin. We stayed 3 weeks. I worked from there, and the WiFi is not good for working. But a portable WiFi box solved that issue. On the morning of check out, my daughter woke up with 6 little bumps on her shoulder. Had it happened the first night, I would have been certain it was bed bugs. But the last night of 21 days, and only one incident between 2 rooms and 5 people leaves room for doubt. But just in case, 4 out of 5, for leisure, not work. I would go back. And I would recommend with caution.
I haven't even stayed her yet, and it's horrible. I made a reservation, the did an authorization on my credit card. That's it. I have no reservation information, confirmation email, nothing. I have tried and tried 3 different numbers but never get anyone. The one time someone did answer, I asked about my reservation and he said "Can I call you right back? I am upstairs with a guest", I went to give him my name and number and he just hunt up. And that's it. Left another voiceail today. HORRIBLE customer service.
I spent almost a week here a few months ago (March 2025) and it was terrible. The table was sticky and the shower curtain had several feet of mildew and mold (which they did replace when I asked them to), so they clearly don't maintain the rooms. Those issues were minor, though. The biggest three problems I had were: 1) super uncomfortable bed that made my back hurt SOOO bad and made sleeping miserable. 2) the room smelled so bad, previous guests had clearly smoked a lot in there. I got in late my first night so walmart was closed and I just had to endure the smell and attempt to get any sleep, but the next day I got one of those odor absorber gel things and it did help the room a bit. When I got back home (after 5 nights here), I realized that the smell had sunk into my CPAP. I scrubbed all the pieces, but the smell remained, so I replaced all the disposable pieces and did a few more rounds of scrubbing on the hard to replace pieces. I also had to replace the air filter, which is supposed to be white even when it's dirty and ready to be replaced. It was GRAY. I forget to replace it at home for four weeks and it's still white. But five days in this motel room and it's gray!?! So gross. What did I breathe in while I stayed there?? The odor even seeped into my backpack so I had to run it through the washing machine a couple times to get most of the smell out. 3) The fridge cycled through some annoyingly loud sounds that I've never heard from any appliance before. It was so overstimulating and stressful, kept me awake, grated on my nerves the entire time. I did unplug it to confirm it was in fact the fridge, but had to plug it back in because I had perishables in the fridge. This motel was the determining factor in me never staying in cheap places again. From now on, I'm saving up my money so I can afford nicer places. I never want to spend the night in a place like this again. If you need literally any safe place to spend the night, this will do. If you want a decent night's sleep, a relaxing stay, or clean air to breath, then don't stay here.
