Foot of the Mountain Motel offers a charming and historic stay in Boulder, praised for its convenient location near Pearl Street and outdoor activities. Guests consistently highlight the cozy rooms, friendly staff, and unique amenities like the Ember & Ice sauna and cold plunge, creating a memorable experience.
We had a wonderful stay at Foot of the Mountain Motel! The location was one of our favorite parts, being so close to the river and Eben G Park and it made it easy to go for a drive up Boulder Canyon. The rooms were super cute, cozy, and had a lot of character, making the stay feel comfortable and relaxing. We also loved the backyard space, which was a great spot to unwind after exploring the area. Another huge plus was that it was within walking distance of Pearl Street, so we could easily walk to restaurants, shops, and everything downtown has to offer. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Boulder!
Before I start, let it be known that we understood we were not checking into the ritz Carlton and really were open to the experience of staying in a historic room in a very upscale neighborhood. That is what you’re paying for. For 2 adults &1 dog it came to a little under $300 for the night. Unfortunately when you check in and see trash from another guest still in the trash, hair/fur on the towels and dust/dirt on the mirrors and surface areas, it makes you a little uneasy that the room is even clean at all. It looks to have been remodeled in the 80’s and then they just stopped maintaining it. Also, the floor in the bathroom was sinking by the toilet smh. Don’t stay in the King Cozy room. We really wanted this to be a cute rustic experience and what we were given was dirty. We do not recommend this motel. I would post the pictures but I don’t see that option here.
This place is so picturesque. So gorgeous and clean and the staff give great service and recommendations. My partner and I loved it so much that we’re about to stay again and absolutely adore how cute everything about this motel is. It’s a perfect spot for Pearl street and mountain photography. Thank you, FOTM! Can’t wait for our second trip. with love, Ash
Highly recommend. This a a great place to stay if you prefer cozy, authentic stays over "luxury", cookie-cutter hotel chains with no personality. I stayed in one of the kitchenette rooms, and everything felt welcoming, rustic, and real. (Just a heads up that the shower ceiling is a little low, so you will have to duck if you are tall like I am!) This place has been around since 1934, and you can see the character and history in the buildings and in the warm service that you receive from the staff. I was personally assisted by Goni and Tiffany and a few other members of staff. I stayed during the winter, and the hot tub on the shared porch was amazing to use on a cold night. It's right next to a small park, hiking trails, and Boulder Creek. 20-min walk to Pearl Street in town. There is also a sauna & cold plunge business (owned separately) right next to the premises. At the time of my stay, they were offering a free session for guests of Foot of the Mountain Motel, and a discount for further sessions. Do it if you have the time!
Unforgettable Stay – Ember & Ice Made It Magical! Wow, what an incredible experience at Foot of the Mountain Motel! From the moment I arrived, this charming, nostalgic spot right by Boulder Creek felt like a hidden gem in the heart of Boulder. The location is unbeatable—super walkable to everything, peaceful vibes, and that classic motel charm with cozy, clean rooms that make you feel right at home. But honestly, the absolute highlight (and reason I’d give this place 5 massive stars) was Ember & Ice right on the property! The mobile sauna and cold plunge setup is next-level rejuvenating—nothing beats hopping into that steaming cedar sauna with the mountain air, then plunging into the icy cold for that ultimate contrast therapy. I did a few rounds and felt completely reset, energized, and blissed out. It’s hands-down the best wellness add-on I’ve ever had at a hotel stay. If you’re into recovery, relaxation, or just want something unique, do NOT skip Ember & Ice—it’s the main event here! Shoutout to the amazing team who made everything run so smoothly: Devon Suggs and Dylon Suggs for being so welcoming and knowledgeable about the whole setup, Trent for the great tips on timing the sessions perfectly, Ricky for keeping everything spotless and ready, and Landon for the friendly check-in energy that set the tone for the whole trip. You guys rock—your passion for what you do really shines through and made the experience even better. Can’t wait to come back. If you’re in Boulder, book Foot of the Mountain Motel and treat yourself to Ember & Ice—you won’t regret it! 5 Stars all the way! ?????
I’ve stayed at the Foot of the Mountain Motel twice now, and both visits were genuinely delightful. The rooms have a rustic, cabin-like feel that’s incredibly cozy. My room did not feel dated or run down—everything is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. The location is truly unmatched. Sitting right at the base of the foothills near the mouth of Boulder Canyon, you’re surrounded by parks and trails in every direction. It’s hard to imagine a better spot if you love nature and easy access to the outdoors. The steam room and cold plunge amenities are top-notch and clearly well cared for. Included in the price of your stay, these features add an incredible value. But the most remarkable part of this motel isn’t the location or even the fantastic amenities—it’s the people. Every single person on staff is compassionate, interesting, warm, and genuinely accommodating. Staying here feels less like a hotel visit and more like coming home. Please—truly—enjoy this gem of a motel. It’s something special.
This perfectly situated Motel is a hidden little sweet treat that is gentle on the pocket book. The new Manager Tiffany…….well you just gotta stay here and have breakfast with Tiffany and a nice little chat and you will see why this place is so special! Cozy rooms, cozy beds! Great and beautiful stay and experience. Thank you Tiffany, so gosh damn glad I got to meet your sweet loving soul.
Just spent 4 days .and rented 5 rooms including the Flagstaff Suite for our family Christmas celebration. The service was top notch, the staff exceptional! The manager, Tiffany was new to the property, was so impressed by her customer service and welcoming spirit! All of the staff made the celebration special! Looking forward to many more holidays spent on the property!
We stayed here for a football game. It’s pretty well located in regard to campus and downtown boulder. The beds were pretty bad and could be replaced with something newer and more comfortable. There was also no soap in our bathroom :( when we booked online the 3rd party site tried to get us to pay extra for breakfast but know that breakfast is complimentary regardless of paying extra for it online.
It's a GREAT hotel. And depending of the time of the year you can get great prices. It a COZY hotel, in the cabins style side. Rooms are clean, and everything works. My room had the heater right next to the desk, so when I was doing some work I felt my hand and right part of my face melting ha! but was ok. Staff there was incredible nice, like out of this world nice. It had a complimentary breakfast that was decent if you are not too picky. Location looks far but is actually like 5 mins from everything in boulder (add traffic to the equations depending the time). Easy to park. Wifi worked perfect, but the hotel was almost empty so not sure when is full. (I got 200mbps, but again I was alone there). They have a coffee room with some tables, that was super comfortable to seat and work a little bit there but rooms had desk too. But in high season the prices could go up in the 400s, I'm not sure if I would paid that much for this place, but its offer/demand thing. Right now was in the lower 100s, and for that price it was AWESOME.
