The Slate Hotel in Denver receives overwhelmingly positive reviews, frequently praised for its central location, stylish design, and friendly staff. Guests appreciate the comfortable rooms, including those with rain showerheads, and the hotel's proximity to downtown attractions. However, some concerns have been raised regarding parking costs and occasional billing discrepancies.
From when we arrived the staff was nice, at check in Emma was friendly and helpful, our room was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and soft, we slept great! They have a rain water shower, the hotel was quiet too. We had breakfast in the restaurant and our server was so nice and the food delicious! It’s located in the center of Denver near all the city sights! We would recommend staying at The Slate!
This hotel is excellent. Not only are the rooms beautifully designed, they are immaculately clean. The shower heads are actually high enough for a tall guy too. I had a slight issue with my room at check in and Samar took care of it immediately and with grace. Hilton, please recognize her for outstanding work. An employee like her really turns a stay into an experience. Very impressed so far, and I don’t expect that to change.
I had a really great stay at The Slate Hotel Denver Downtown and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Denver. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt smooth and welcoming. The staff at the front desk were friendly, professional, and always ready to help with any questions or requests. Check-in was quick and hassle-free, which is always a big plus when traveling with family. The room itself was clean, modern, and very comfortable. Everything was well maintained, and the bed was especially comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day exploring the city. The room was quiet, which made for a very restful night. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything fresh and organized throughout our stay. One of the best parts of this hotel is the location. It’s right in downtown Denver, close to restaurants, shops, and popular attractions, making it super convenient to get around without any stress. Whether you’re walking or driving, everything feels nearby. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is stylish yet comfortable, and it feels perfect for both families and vacation travelers. Service, cleanliness, and location all exceeded expectations. This was a very pleasant experience, and I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Denver. Highly recommended!
We stayed at the Slate for a week. The room was wonderful. It would have been perfect had we had a microwave. We had a steamer instead of an iron which was awesome. Makeup mirror and extra plus. We could have had better selection for the TV. Having laundry services on the premises for the guest was 105%. There was one issue. Upon checking out my bill was charged an extra $150. I was charged someone else's bar tab. This may have been an honest mistake, however had I not paid attention to details I would have been paying $250.42. My actual bill was $100.42. The valet parking is $59 a night or you can walk less than a block and park your car at the Athletic Club for $30 a day. Would I stay at the Slate Hotel again, absolutely.
I love the atmosphere of the old school house hotel. I would discribe the location as a quiet spot downtown. Its on the outskirts of the busy downtown area. The rooms are really nice. The rain head shower made the stay. The breakfast menu was AMAZING! I am not a breakfast eater and I had a hard time choosing between the many options. My only issue were the pillows, but this is a Hilton problem not a Slate problem. The pillowes were too soft and I woke up with my neck killing me. I wish they would put one of their down pillow with one firmer pillow on the beds. The vallet parking is to expensive even for downtown denver. I suggest parking at one of the pay lots near by, there are three within a block. Pro tip for breakfast, make sure you select the rate with breakfast included. The menu for breakfast is about $20-25.
Quick update - while Hilton gave me info on how to call or email and deal with god only knows how many robots before talking to a person, as they do on all their negative reviews, they could have SIMPLY refunded me the money. I won't be jumping through their hoops, my time is more valuable to me. Upon arrival at the Slate I went to have my truck valet parked. Unfortunately the valet did not know how to drive a manual transmission. I was instructed to park my truck myself, in the courtyard (not inside the locked and secure valet garage). I was told that another valet would arrive later in the shift who knew how to drive a manual and would park my truck. However, upon going to get my truck in the morning, there it was parked exactly where I left it. I figured this would be an easy $59 refund, since no valet ever touched my truck. However, Nate (the valet "manager") indicated the charge would not be refunded since the hotel took on the liability of my vehicle on their property. I wonder what would have happened had I backed into a guest or part of the hotel while I was parking my truck, would that have been their liability? Doubtful. So instead of doing the right thing and refunding my measly (to Hilton) $59, they get this review. I won't stay there again and I'd recommend you don't either. Lots of other options (that are not right next door to a strip club).
The Slate Hotel is a Hampton Inn disguised as a 4 star hotel. Rooms are mid at best and small. Food is what you would expect at an airport. Service is good but not 4 star hotel level. Buyer beware: though you can find this hotel in the under $100 category on Priceline, your stay will cost you much more as everything is ala carte. Parking is $59 a night and really the only option unless you want to go move your car once a day. (Parking in the area is max 12 hrs) No free breakfast. No free anything. Even the 2 bottles of water in the room are $2.50 each. I've honestly spent less and had much better accommodations at budget hotels.
Great location. Good, quiet rooms. Good amenities. The cleaning staff are quite quick and thorough and cordial. However, considering my interactions with four front desk staff, a waiter, and one I met in the halls, the staff are not knowledgeable about their own amenities or their location and will not put in much effort to assist you with issues. And there are some signs of incompetence (they deactivated my wife’s cards when I told them specifically not to as I alone was leaving early and she was staying - yet they did). So I think the experience depends on how much you must interact with staff. You’ll be fine so long as you don’t need anything.
Such a cute hotel. A new fave in Denver!!!! Rooms are clean and the perfect size for solo travelers. Restaurant does have set hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure to check the times for dining. Coffee available for purchase from the bar in the morning. Valet parking or street parking is available.
A great hotel. You can tell a lot of money has been spent on reforming this hotel from an old school but they have still kept a few of the old school charm. The rooms are a great size and kept very clean. The staff are brilliant and the food served was the best we ate in Denver. The only downfall is the location. It is a bit of a walk to the main attaction (union station, both stadiums) but I would still stay here again if am ever in Denver.
