The Thompson Denver consistently receives high praise for its exceptional service, prime downtown location, and stylish design. Guests frequently highlight the welcoming staff, comfortable rooms, and convenient access to Denver’s attractions. While some minor concerns have been raised regarding room amenities, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.
Our stay at the Thompson Denver was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and even welcomed us with delicious chocolates. The hotel’s sophisticated bar area creates the perfect atmosphere to relax and unwind, and its prime location in the heart of downtown Denver makes it incredibly convenient to explore nearby restaurants and concert venues. The Thompson truly goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel well cared for in every detail. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience and would happily stay again.
This is such a special space. SO many high points! They hosted our wedding ceremony in their 6th floor event space, which was beautiful! And then promptly afterwards we had an intimate dinner for 4 of us in the Chez Maggie. Jeff, our server was absolutely top notch, and Jarred went above and beyond to make our experience one we will never forget! Move this place up to the top of your list... You won't regret it!
Well situated hotel with lots of great details. Our King corner suite was plenty spacious and was outfitted really nicely- contemporary but not too modern. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom well appointed. We had nothing but great service at Chez Maggie. Two breakfasts and a dinner there and the food was top notch (other than an overdressed Bob salad). The hasbrowns were out of this world delicious. It was the service that would bring us back though- all the people working were genuinely kind and wanted us to have a great experience. Thank you to Bailey at Chex Maggie especially!
I stayed 3 nights at the Thompson Denver for my first trip back to Denver after moving out of Colorado in August. From check-in to check-out, the experience was nothing short of incredible. Kimberly at the front desk was extremely helpful after a long day of traveling. I was able to check into my room 5 hours early and was even upgraded from a neighborhood view room to city view on the 10th floor. I grew up in this city, and the view left me stunned as if I had never been here. I can’t believe what it’s like for someone seeing it for the first time. The hotel is located right next to the newly renovated 16th Street in the heart of downtown. Even with this active location, my room was completely silent every hour of the day. The room itself was spotless and modern with all the basic amenities you’d expect, including a soft bed perfect for your post airport nap and after dinner laziness. As someone who works in a Michelin stared restaurant, I’m a bit of a snob about service. The Thompson hit every mark and even surpassed my expectations. Every encounter I had with the staff here was memorable and personalized. I can attest that this is something difficult to fake. The Thompson pairs with Denver like a fine wine, not necessary to enjoy a meal but something so elevating you forget how to go without it. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone looking to visit Denver, or even as a staycation for those who need a sight for sore eyes.
This is hard for me to write because I genuinely love Thompson properties and have stayed at many of them. Unfortunately, my experience here was deeply disappointing. Every interaction I had with the front desk last night fell short. I had just spent four days in the hospital and was really hoping for a smooth, restorative stay. Instead, the room service options kept dwindling by the minute, and I could not get ahold of room service at all. When I called the front desk for help, they were difficult to reach and unhelpful once they did answer. I called about fifteen minutes before room service closed. I understand that is not ideal, but my request was extremely simple. Two dessert items only. When the front desk finally answered, I asked if they could relay the order. I was stopped mid sentence and told they would only transfer me to the room service line, which I already knew was not being answered. Unsurprisingly, it still was not. Breakfast the next morning was also very underwhelming, especially for the price. I may be comparing it too directly to a recent trip to Spain, but even accounting for that, the offering felt lackluster. That may be typical for the U.S., but it does not align with the expectations of a Thompson property. The room itself was clean and comfortable, as expected. Everything else was forgettable at best. Overall, I was very disappointed with the service. I would not return, and I would not recommend this property to others. PS if you’re ever Spain, stay at *any* of the Hospes properties (they’re all in Spain and there are like 15 of them. They are eye wateringly affordable, and all in renovated palaces), have breakfast, then come back to this review and you’ll get it. Save your money, go to Starbucks. (Can’t believe I just wrote that)
The Thompson Denver location is one of its biggest perks. If you’re flying into Denver International Airport, save yourself the Uber fare and take the $10 train instead. The station is only about a five minute walk from the hotel, making arrival simple. There are several other hotels within a mile radius, but many of them sit in areas with a noticeably higher homeless presence. In contrast, the Thompson feels like a much better situated choice, offering convenience without sacrificing comfort. The hotel itself has plenty of amenities: a venue space, a restaurant, a bar, and a fitness center. If you’re planning a trip to Denver for fun, it’s worth calling ahead to see if the hotel has any events happening during your stay. You might end up having a whole night of entertainment without ever needing to leave the property. As for the dining experience, the on site restaurant serves both dine in meals and room service. I will say, the crab toast and calamari were probably the worst I’ve had, but the French toast at brunch was actually quite good. The rooms are clean, and the TV selection is okay. While I personally wouldn’t touch any of the snacks (since none of it is complimentary), I do appreciate that the hotel stocks plenty of them and even provides an iPhone charger, which I always seem to forget. One downside: I left room-service dishes out in the hallway, and they were still there the next day, which was disappointing.
This is a very nice hotel. It is situated right at a great location in 16th Street in Denver. The staff here is great give a shout out to the front desk they very cool. They also have a very nice lobby bar here to get some good drinks and some small bites. The restaurant is also very good, but could use a few more breakfast items. They have a lot of nice chairs and couches to sit in the lobby hours. I would definitely say one thing they can do better is they need more dresser furniture for people that stay more than a couple of nights to put their clothes away and also electrical outlets most of them are in the worst spot and they don't have very many. There is a lot of wall space to hang up some cabinets.
Stayed at the Thompson Denver, by Hyatt during our recent stay in Colorado. We enjoyed everything about our stay. We were here for a total of 5 days. The people at the front desk were always helpful and very nice. We got an upgrade to the 9th floor with a city view that we really appreciated. Very nice gym, very nice restaurant on site and the amenities in the room are great. It was nice that your keycard had to be scanned in the elevator to access your floor as well. The location is very central to everything you need in downtown Denver. We would definitely stay here again!
From the moment we arrived, the experience at Thompson Denver was exceptional. The hotel is beautifully designed — modern, warm, and elegant — with a perfect downtown location that’s close to everything. Our room was spotless and comfortable, with great attention to detail. A special thank you to Maia at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Her professionalism, kindness, and genuine hospitality truly stood out and made all the difference. The restaurant and bar were also fantastic — great ambiance, excellent food, and an energetic yet relaxed vibe. Overall, this hotel delivers the perfect balance of luxury and comfort. We’ll definitely be back!
Excellent stay! The hotel is gorgeous and I love the decor. Very centrally located near lots of walkable shopping and restaurants. The room was clean as well (I'm VERY picky about this). And I loved the attached Ludo Lefebvre restaurant. What was above and beyond was the service. There was a nor-easter affecting my return flight back home to NYC, and the Thompson let me extend my stay not once, but twice. They were able to keep me in the same room and made the whole process seamless. They even calculated how many points I would need to extend, since I purchased the original reservation with points. It's not often nowadays that you get old school great customer service, but Kimberly in particular was extremely helpful. I would absolutely come back here on my next trip to Denver! Huge thanks to the whole staff for making me feel right at home when I wasn't able to get home. :)
