The Sonesta Denver Downtown receives mixed reviews, with highlights including friendly staff, particularly in housekeeping and the front desk, and a great downtown location. However, concerns center around inconsistent service, particularly valet and check-out experiences, as well as issues with room cleanliness, noise levels, and the lack of certain amenities like microwaves and complimentary coffee. Some guests report difficulties with deposit processes and unexpected charges.
Not the best hotel. Our room would not cool off. Maintenance had to come try to fix the air conditioning and it helped a little but we had the air on 66 the entire time and it was usually in the 70s in the room, in winter. Some of the staff was nice, especially the maintenance and house keeping staff. The worst part, and what made the stay worthy of a bad review was the valet. If a hotel is going to basically require valet, the valet needs to be available 24/7. We had a very early flight to catch and when I asked the front desk I was told no one was available and was handed the keys to my rental. I was given inaccurate directions on where the car was in the parking deck. I spent several minutes, at 3 am, walking up and down the parking deck trying to find our car. I’m assuming the hotel outsources the valet but regardless it is a poor reflection on the hotel. If you are headed to Denver I would suggest a different hotel.
Booked with a 3rd party. Their was some confusion with the date. Theresa was amazing in getting the refund settled quickly. If you stay here hopefully you get the pleasure of working with her. Room and location are OK too. A fair hotel isn't easy to come by these days.
They don't have free breakfast and they have no microwaves in their room. I didn't have a bathtub even though I asked for one. They took my deposit and charged me an extra $100 because my room smells like smoke after coming inside from smoking outside. I never smoked in my room. For how much you paying you could get better somewhere else
Huge thank you to Jonathan at the front desk! He had great customer service and was quick to help me set up an amenity for my mom, even though I called last minute. This was very much appreciated! the rooms here are clean and comfortable, and this hotel is in a great location.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff at check-in and check-out were genuinely kind, professional, and efficient making us feel welcome. The housekeeping team was just as friendly and attentive, making sure our room was always fresh and well stocked with plenty of towels and bottled water. We stayed on the 21st floor, which was a fantastic choice for us visiting from Maine. The views were incredible, a perfect mix of the Denver skyline and the beautiful Rocky Mountains in the distance. Waking up to that scenery each morning was a highlight of our trip. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped, including a Keurig for making coffee in-room. One small thing to note: the hotel doesn’t offer complimentary coffee in the lobby. If you’d like coffee downstairs, you’ll need to purchase it, a tall coffee is $5 at the Lockwood restaurant or simply brew your own in the room. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would happily stay here again on our next visit to Denver!
Stayed at Sonesta Downtown Denver, 1/16-1/19. Firstly… a $250 deposit upon check-in, is absurd! I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels, and have never had a deposit over $100. Second… upon getting out of the elevator on my floor, room doors were dirty, had chipped paint and scuff marks…. I felt like I was in a low budget motel. Hotel rooms were noisy and walls thin. My room had a stained couch and chips in the paint on the walls. The room itself…. 3 star at best and I’m being gracious even giving that. My biggest complaint was check-out. The woman helping us was rude and very short. Not once did she ask how our stay was. She asked if I was checking out and I said yes. I was expecting her next question to be “ would you like your valet charges to be charged to the card we have on file?” Instead I was met with silence until she said, “ do you want a copy of your valet receipt?” Mind you, our whole conversation lasted maybe 25 seconds. I told her that when we checked in, the front desk said the valet charges can be paid with a different card, if we’d like. Her response was “ well you didn’t say you wanted to use a different card for valet, so I already charged it”. No apology for not asking me… just an annoyed stare. No offer to rectify the situation. HER poor customer service skills alone, is enough of a reason to never stay there again. For a supposed 4 star hotel, I expect 4 star customer service. Disappointed, because the location is ideal. You can walk to everything downtown. If this hotel is going to charge $40 valet per day and $250 deposit, for 4 star accommodations, then make sure you’re delivering a 4 star experience! Doubt I’ll ever give them my business again.
Excellent service! They found out it was our anniversary and delivered a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room. They also gave us a drink voucher for two free drinks. This was our second time staying at this hotel and we will definitely be returning. Very clean rooms as well! Thank you for making our weekend away enjoyable!!
Was here the night of the parade of lights. Room upgraded to a suite, had a great view of the parade below. Bed was somewhat uncomfortable but overall I liked the room. Food from the Lockwood was actually really good, try the reuben or fish and chips. Elevators got kind of annoying, getting full and with all the stops, but I guess that's probably common amongst tall buildings I'm not in them much. Valet parking service was easy to use, no complaints there.
Better than expected! Spacious room with comfy bed, clean bathroom, and great location! Quick walk to Pavilions mall, Target, restaurants, etc. Mini-fridge was nice, but no in-room microwave, however there's one in the lobby. Decent selection of snack and grab & go items for purchase in lobby. Be aware, there is a $250 hold on your credit card for incidentals.
Beautiful, swanky hotel. I was able to check in early without paying extra! My room had an issue with the AC, they sent engineering out both times I called with concern and when they couldn't immediately fix it, got me into another room for the night. Everyone was kind, super attentive, and always smiling. The atmosphere was welcoming and every staff person I ran into was extremely helpful. 10/10 would recommend!
